able I become a school psychologist with an educational psychology degree

I am currently applying for graduate school, and my ultimate career goal is to be a school psychologist in an elementary school. Right now, I am debating whether or not to get my PhD in School Psychology, or if I could reach the goal I want with a Masters in Educational Psychology.

Also,able anyone explain the different between School Psychology and Educational Psychology? I am looking into the University of California in Riverside, which has an excellent education department, and offers the PhD in School psychology or an MA in Educational Psychology.

I may or may not decide to get my PhD at a later date, but if I able become a school psychologist with the Masters of Educational Psychology, I will do that as of right now and post-pone the doctorate until later down the line.

If anyone could help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Theres a teaching credential for school psychologists, the psychologist (PhD) and psychologist associate (MA) licenses, and the Licensed Educational Psychologist. Assuming that youre talking about become a school psychologist practicing within a school system setting (not private practice) then what youre looking for is the Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Specialization in School Psychology ? You will want some professional advising guidance as you explore these careers ? the profession is licensed and very regulated. This isnt one where you just complete the classes and able find a job.
