Trinity Biotech 4Q profit grows on HIV test sales

NEW YORK (AP) ? Diagnostic products company Trinity Biotech PLC said Monday its profit grew in the fourth quarter on greater sales of its rapid HIV tests.

The Irish company said its profit grew to $4 million, or 18.4 cents per American depositary receipt, from $3.7 million, or 16.6 cents per ADR. Revenue rose 4 percent, to $20 million from $19.2 million. Trinity said sales of its HIV tests improved in both the U.S. and Africa, its two key markets.

The company said its annual profit rose to $15.6 million, or 70.2 cents per ADR, from $13.6 million, or 62.7 cents per ADR excluding special items. Its revenue fell 13 percent, to $77.9 million from $89.6 million.

Shares of Trinity Biotech fell 3 cents to $10 in afternoon trading.
